From mid-September to mid-October, Elba de la Fuente, Professor of Weed Science at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, carried out her secondment at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (SSSA) within the NeutraWeed Project.

Her visit focused on sharing experiences and approaches in agroecological weed management to reduce pesticide use and enhance biodiversity, ecosystem services, soil health, and water availability.
During her stay, Elba delivered a seminar to the SSSA Group of Agroecology on the Argentinean context of NeutraWeed and weed monitoring methods. Together with the Group of Agroecology, she joined a field visit to an organic farm in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, took part in the Bright Night of Researchers, and contributed to the joint organisation of experiments and field activities to be implemented in Argentina. Her visit also laid the foundation for joint publications comparing Italian and Argentine contexts and exploring crop diversification as a strategy for sustainable weed management.
Elba’s secondment has further strengthened collaboration between Italy and Argentina, supporting NeutraWeed’s mission to promote biodiversity-friendly weed management.
Stay tuned for more updates from this growing international partnership!
