From Italy to the Netherlands to strengthen robotics research and collaboration
From late April to late May 2026, Franco Angelini, researcher at the University of Pisa, carried out a secondment at the Robotics and Mechatronics (RAM) group of the University of Twente, within the NeutraWeed Project.

The secondment focused on strengthening scientific networking, research dissemination, and career development, while also advancing ongoing collaborative research activities in robotics and agricultural automation.
During his stay, Franco participated in regular meetings at the host institution, exchanging ideas with researchers and staff on ongoing research activities and opportunities for future collaboration. He also delivered a seminar at the University of Twente, presenting his research activities and discussing robotics, automation, and the objectives of the NeutraWeed project.
The networking activities were further extended through a visit to TU Delft, where Franco presented the project’s goals, current activities, and future perspectives. The visit provided an opportunity to meet researchers working on project dissemination and explore new research connections.
Alongside these activities, the secondment supported the development of new project proposals and the planning of a Consortium review paper on selective weed management. Franco also continued collaborative work with researchers at the University of Twente on two ongoing scientific papers.
The secondment strengthened connections between the University of Pisa, University of Twente and TU Delft, contributing to NeutraWeed’s commitment to international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the professional development of its researchers.
Stay tuned for more updates from the NeutraWeed international research community!
